Realme enters third place in Indian phone market for the first time

In just over three years, Realme has set a milestone.

Founded in May 2018, the realme brand is one of the top three best-selling mobile phone brands in the Indian smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2021. According to market research firm Canalys, realme is the third most powerful mobile phone brand in the Indian phone market in 2021.

Realme reported 7.6 million smartphone shipments in the Indian quarter in the fourth quarter, with a market share of 17%. Other phone companies showed slower-than-last-year growth in quarterly market growth, but realme rose 49 percent, according to the Canalys report. For the fourth quarter of 2021, realme is the only brand in the top five Indian mobile phone companies with annual market growth.

During the fourth quarter of 2020, realme sold 5.1 million handsets in the Indian market, ranking 12th among the top five Indian mobile phone brands with 12% market share. According to Canalys, sales of realme phones have risen because of the good supply of low-cost phones and the good management of products in the market.

Samsung and realme say they are developing a more sophisticated chipset to help with supply chain management. In the fourth quarter of the Indian phone market, Xiaomi gained 21% market share; It topped the list with 9.3 million smartphones sold, down 22% year-on-year from the previous year. In second place was Samsung with 8.3 million units sold, with a market share of 19%.
