Leading Business Schools in Washington D.C.

Washington, D.C. is home to several highly ranked business schools, including the American University Kogod School of Business, the George Washington School of Business, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, and the Howard School of Business.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business has accredited the Kogod School of Business, an undergraduate and graduate business school at American University in Northwest Washington, D.C.

The Kogod School of Business at American University is widely recognized for its world-class programs. It was ranked 56th in the 2013 U.S. News & World Report list of the best undergraduate business schools and 23rd in a rating of International Business programs.

In addition, QS has placed the Kogod online MBA program as the 22nd best online MBA in the world, the eighth best online MBA in the United States, the third best class experience in the world, and the eighth program with the largest percentage of women worldwide.

Additionally, the George Washington University School of Business is regarded as one of the best business schools in the United States. Business Week’s 2013 “Best Undergraduate Business Schools by Specialization” rankings placed its undergraduate program in the top 25 in the categories of ethics, sustainability, and corporate strategy. In the 2012 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, its undergraduate international business program was named in the top five in the nation.

The Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business is Georgetown University’s business school in Washington, D.C. Businessweek ranked its undergraduate program tenth among the “Best Undergraduate B-Schools” in 2011. Also placed in the top ten for academic quality, median starting pay for graduates, and schools that send the most undergraduates to top MBA programs.

According to U.S. News & World Report, McDonough has also been named No. 21 in Best Business Schools and No. 14 in Part-time MBA programs. In addition, McDonough’s Full-time MBA Program was placed ninth in the United States and seventeenth in the world by the Financial Times Global MBA rating for 2021.

The Howard University School of Business is also one of the top business schools in America. It provides both full-time and part-time MBA programs, as well as dual degree programs in health sciences, law, and other disciplines. The Howard School of Business has been named first by The Princeton Review for “Greatest Opportunity for Minority Students.” In the Princeton Review 2013 Edition: The Best 296 Business Schools, Howard was also ranked in the top 10 institutions with the most competitive pupils.
